An Update, and a Character Introduction!

Hello, everyone! It's been a while since I made my first post on Project Angelus, and all I can say is... my B. Sadly, things have been going slow due to a lack of motivation, but I have some new material written for the story that I made a little while ago. I've shared it on my Twitter account some time ago, but I'll share it again here. This is a few short paragraphs from the story's prologue, called "15 Years Ago".

~~~
"Well, well... we've finally managed to catch you, Alain. You wouldn't believe how difficult it was to try to find you and your little family since your escape from Vancouver... what was it, three years ago? You almost had us lost, but... did you really think you could lose the Wraiths that easily?" The older man's tone of voice was teasing, yet oddly friendly to Alain. Cien, watching onward from his hiding place, was frightened to tears for his father, hoping that he would make it out of this dire situation. The older man began speaking again, slowly approaching Cien's father, with a wily smirk upon his face.
"Now, I'm going to ask you something, and I'm only giving you a few chances... we seem to be missing a passenger, and I would like to know where he is. Tell me, Mr. Laguoire... where is the boy?" He was now standing quite close to Alain, who had looked down and grimaced in retaliation to the question. This did not please his interrogator at all, his face turning deadly serious. "You have to nerve to smile and say nothing? Perhaps you forget what is happening. Your wife is dead, and you won’t last much longer! If you tell me where the boy is, I just may show some mercy upon him. Perhaps we could even train the little one as a Wraith. I’m sure he would be of great service to us. Now, this is your second chance, Alain... where is Cien?"
Alain chuckled in response to his question, knowing that the man and his cult would show no mercy, not even to a child. He looked up to the man and said, "You think I'd willingly tell you where my son is? I'd much rather die right now, Jann Garlan."
As the chapter's title implies, this tells us about what happened to the main protaganist, Cien Laguoire, 15 years ago. One of the main antagonist forces, the Wraiths, found the 5-year-old Cien and his parents and attempted to kill them. They succeeded in murdering Cien's mother, and as Cien watches from a secluded hiding spot, he watches his father's final moments. This event plays a major role in Cien's attitude towards the Wraiths, and shows how merciless they are as an organization that serves Lucifer.
I haven't done any more writing past this point, but I feel that I really need to crack down on doing more, so I shall be doing up the first chapter soon! In an old draft I did for this story, I actually had a bit of stuff written in the current day (or would that be several years ago? It does take place in 2007!) after the events of the flashback, and went on to write the first chapter which takes place after a scene transition. However, the original work I did on the first chapter was lost after an external hard drive failure, but at least I have something to start on now, and I hope that this new version of the chapter turns out good!
On another note, I'd like to add some information about the characters of the story! For each update, I'll do a little profile on each of the important characters in The Chronicles of Angelus, so you guys will get to know the cast a little better! Of course, I won't reveal everything about them, and these profiles are of the characters at the start of the story. So with that, let's introduce our main protagonist!
~~~

Cien Laguoire
Age: 20
Sex: Male
Height: 5'11"
Weight: 187 lbs
Hair Color: White
Eye Color: Bright Blue
Birthday: June 24, 1987
Occupation: Custom Auto Technician

The central hero of The Chronicles of Angelus, Cien Laguoire is the descendant of the Angelic hero Alexander Laguoire, who helped protect humanity from Lucifer and his Demonic legion, and the original user of Angelus. Being of Angelic lineage, he is actually part human, part Angel, which makes him much more physically fit than the average human male; he is surprisingly strong and has a lot of stamina for someone of a toned build. His shoulder-length white hair and blue eyes are also traits of his lineage, which was a trait carried down through his family for generations. He is quite handsome, though he has some youthful, fairer aspects to his face.

He is quite friendly and easy to get along with, and treasures his friendships with people, especially those who he is close to. If a situation comes where his friends are endangered, he would fight to his last breath to protect them. He is generally very patient, and rarely loses his cool. Cien is also a fairly quick learner, and can adapt to a situation with what he learned. While normally unflappable, he does have some ire towards Demons and their malicious ways. However, Cien has a deep-seated hatred towards the Wraiths, who had committed atrocities in the name of Lucifer, hunted his ancestors, and murdered his father and mother. He is willing to take any measure to exterminate this menace as vengeance for what they did to him and his family.

He currently works at the Black Cat Customs garage as a custom car technician alongside his best friend, Kat Mendez. He enjoys automobiles and working on them, and even races at the Laguna Seca race track as a hobby with a modified AE86 Toyota Corolla GT-S that Cien himself has worked on, and even earns some small prize money payouts in amateur race events. He is a considerably skilled driver, and is capable of handling pressure with a cool head.

Cien inherits the Angelus Crystal, allowing him to transform into the white knight, Angelus. He also weilds a family heirloom, the Mythmaker, which is a bastard sword that was wielded by Alexander himself and passed down through the Laguoire family, much like the Angelus Crystal. In terms of fighting capability, Cien is inexperienced, knowing only some basic sword techniques while implementing a more freestyle technique. However, he is still quite strong, and with discipline can become a quite capable fighter truely worthy of the mantle of Angelus.

That's all for this time. Hopefully, I'll be making another post on this blog soon with another update. Until then, take care, and have a good one!

The Chronicles of Angelus - Synopsis and A History of the World

Hello, readers. It's been some time, has it? Today, I'd like to share a little piece of my big writing project, called The Chronicles of Angelus. This has been a sort of "on again, off again" project for a long time for many reasons, but I felt that in recent times, I really want to take a serious crack at writing this story. I'd like to share little snippets of my writing with you guys in the future, as I want to share as much of this personal adventure as I can. I'll also be giving monthly updates on my writing, on top of the other junk I post here. :P

This will be a bit of a long post, as I'm including the synopsis of the story as well as a sort of lore building prologue chapter. I hope you enjoy!

The Chronicles of Angelus - Synopsis

Two thousand years ago, there was the War of the Three Planes, a great and terrible war that took place upon the Human world between the invasive Demon army of the Demon Lord Lucifer from the Underworld, and the Angels led by Grand Master Eden sent to protect Humanity from the Overworld. Alongside the Angels were Humans reborn from the dead, called Reapers, who were trained in the arts of combat against Demons. However, despite the efforts of the Angels and Reapers, Lucifer and his Demonic army were on the path to victory against Eden with the help of Human sympathisers that came to be known as Wraiths and his most powerful allies, the Four Archlords, which would allow the Demon Lord to rule all of Humanity with an iron fist. But word spread of an Angelic knight, a soldier of Eden’s army named Alexander Laguoire, who rallied Angels, Reapers and Humans together to fight against the Demon menace, pushing back against their efforts when all seemed hopeless. Eden summoned this soldier of fortune, and in a ritual she gave Alexander a gift of incredible power; a crystal which allowed him to transform into Eden’s most powerful knight and the defender of Humanity, Angelus! With the power of Angelus, Alexander and his allies valiantly fought back against Lucifer’s forces and in a final decisive battle defeated the Demonic army and sealed the Underworld off from the Human world. This seal came at a price, however, as the Overworld would also become sealed away as well. With Eden’s graces, Alexander decided to stay behind to live with a Human woman he fell in love with during the war, as well as protect Humanity alongside the Reapers from any possible Demon threat. With the Wraiths doing their master’s bidding and attempting to summon Demons through the barrier, Lucifer’s threat still lingers. As for the events of the war, as well as Angels, Reapers, and Demons, they all faded away from the memories of Humanity, now regarded as legends and myths in the modern age.
It is now 2007, and on his 20th birthday, Alexander’s descendant Cien Laguoire is sent a warning by an effigy of Eden herself; the Wraiths are descending upon Cien’s home of Monterey, California, detecting a weak point in Eden’s dimensional barrier. What’s worse, it is revealed that the four Arch Lords stayed in the Human world to recover, and are joining the Wraiths to do Lucifer’s bidding and bring doom to the city! With Eden’s blessing, Cien takes up the mantle of Angelus as his ancestors have. Alongside friends old and new, he fights against the resurging threat of the Underworld, as well as a personal quest of revenge against the Wraiths who hunted down his family for generations and murdered his parents fifteen years ago…

A History of the World

                Earth. A majestic planet, covered with forests, deserts, mountains, valleys, and oceans. It is a planet of life, containing creatures that live upon its land, within its waters, and in the skies. It is a place of innumerable mysteries, legends, and myths, from the unseen creatures that live on it, to the civilizations and events that passed in times long gone. One such legend was that of a great war, where Angels and Humans fought alongside each other against a legion of Demons who sought to take over Earth and subjugate Humanity to their will. Connected to this war was an Angelic knight, one of incredible power that rallied the Angels and Humanity together to fight the Demonic menace when all hope seemed lost. He was deemed a hero by his allies, and would seem destined to go down in history as one of the main driving forces of the Angelic army. But alas, this hero, alongside the great war, would fade from the memories of mankind, and history became myth. However, mythologists have attempted to piece together these events, the notable people involved, as well as the Demons that had appeared from information pulled from ancient texts, images, artifacts, and other sources. With what information was found, mythologists had detailed the events of the great war that has been hidden away in history…
                A long time ago, Humanity and Angels lived in harmony. While Angels were never permitted to directly intervene with Human affairs, they still acted as guides, imparting advice to Humanity when they ask for help, and allowing them to make their own decisions and actions from the advice given. The Angels lived in a different realm from the Human world, which was called the Overworld. While the Overworld was still a great mystery in terms of how this realm is structured, it is known that there is at least one large city where Angels reside, named Novus Luminia. And it is here where the Angelic Grand Master, their leader, lived and ruled over her kind, while watching over the Earth and mankind’s progress. Her name was Eden, and she was loved among the Angels for her kindness and wisdom, and was worshiped among most of Humanity as a goddess. Eden, alongside a council of wise Angels, governed the Overworld, relations with the Human race, as well as relations with mythical creatures that lived upon Earth, including the almighty Dragons led by their king, Bahamut. While a symbiotic relationship was maintained with the Angels and Humanity, mankind itself was chaotic and unpredictable; while there were many that lived in peace, there were also many instances of Humanity’s more savage nature, especially in times of war, where soldiers fought in the name of their ruler, their land, or a worshiped deity, including Eden herself in some instances. While discussions amongst Eden and her council about Humanity’s atrocities was a fairly common topic, their rule of never directly intervening with Human issues still stood, as doing so would interfere with the free will of the Human race and would impose the will of the Angels upon them. However, one of Eden’s most trusted council members broke this law, being sickened by mankind’s war-like nature. This Angel came to be known as Lucifer.
                Lucifer descended from the heavens, purging those who had sinned in their lives, from the thieves, murderers, and rapists, to the ones that sought blood on the battlefields of war. There is one known instance that Lucifer had laid to waste an entire army, including its warmongering ruler, as they had raided and pilfered many villages in the name of one particular Angel which they had worshiped. Saddened and enraged by Lucifer’s actions, Eden had him captured and permanently detained and his rank on council stripped. However, Lucifer had broken free of his cell, and had escaped from Overworld and made his way to the world of darkness, the realm of the Underworld. The Underworld was a place where the Angels dared not go, as it was a forsaken land whose only purpose was to maintain the dimensional balance between it, Overworld, and Earth. The lifeless abyss of the Underworld was a danger to Angels, as they were beings of light, and the abyss made them weak. Regardless, Lucifer managed to survive in the Underworld, and having escaped Eden and the Angels, Lucifer began plotting for his master plan; to bring order to Humanity and rule over them as their sole god, and to eradicate Eden and her influence. But in order to do that, he would need an army, and one that would strike fear into man and Angel alike. Lucifer was well known to be incredibly intelligent, and had possessed abilities that even Eden herself had found quite powerful. He had the ability to destroy… but also that of creation. Using his own blood and genetics, as well as his knowledge of alchemy and manipulating life, Lucifer had created a new breed of creature: Demons. As his “children” grew in numbers, they began to split off into many different species, and eventually became organized under Lucifer’s rule, having made several Houses consisting of the most powerful and organized Demon species. Lucifer eventually renounced his Angelic being, and over time started to become a Demon himself. Eventually, Lucifer had made an open declaration to Eden about his intentions, and that he was amassing an army that grew bigger with each passing day. Fearing the worst, Eden began making her own army, calling upon her citizens to prepare for a coming war, and over many years had built up a regal military consisting of the finest Angelic warriors, preparing for the time that Lucifer made his move.
                And that time did come.
                Around two thousand years ago, gates from the Underworld had appeared in masse on Earth’s most developed areas, and from them came the horrifying Demon army, with Lucifer, the newly appointed Demon Lord, leading them on a rampage of terror, opression, and death for all those who opposed him. In retaliation, Eden had sent her Angelic army to battle, and the mythical War of the Three Planes began.
                While the Angels had fought valiantly in the name of Humanity’s freedom, Lucifer had already made a significant impact upon mankind; some people had surrendered to him out of fear, but there were few that would willingly work for the Demon Lord, siding with his ideals and his conquest of Earth. The most loyal of these Humans became known as Wraiths, who were agents of Lucifer’s will. In the later days of the war, Lucifer gained four incredibly powerful allies, who were given the title of Arch Lord: Vidal Sumner, an undead Human necromancer who raised legions of undead and sent them against Lucifer’s enemies. Argus, Baron of the House of Dark Fire, whose hatred of Humanity and incredible strength made him a feared warrior on the battlefield. Sherda, a Demon who came from the deepest depths of the Underworld, who sought to consume his enemies with the terrifying darkness of the Underworld. And Tiamat, the sister to the Dragon King Bahamut, who betrayed her kind and nearly drove all Dragons to extinction.
                Being at a disadvantage, Eden had to make great lengths to keep up with the Demonic menace. She sought out an undead Human, Rilian Morta, who studied an unusual form of necromancy called “soul arts”. Using soul arts, Rilian was able to bring the dead back to life by recreating the deceased person’s body around their soul, instead of the usual method of reanimating a dead body. These types of undead also had much more durable and stronger bodies than a normal Human’s, which would make them excellent warriors with training. Despite initial controversy with the Angelic council, Eden and Rilian became allies, and Rilian formed the Reapers as specialists in combating Demons, as well as seekers for new Reaper recruits.
                The Angels also made some superweapons to fight Lucifer and his Demon army. While there is little detail on most of these armaments, there is one that had been well recorded: an enormous machine called Illumina. This “golem” as it was described would be piloted by an Angel, and was able to harness extremely powerful magic, as well as being incredibly strong and could even self-repair if damaged. Illumina was quite capable of fighting against an Arch Lord, enough to be considered a great threat to Lucifer. However, disaster struck the Angels; Wraiths, posing as worshipers of Eden, stole Illumina and begun to use it against Eden’s forces. With the combined efforts and powers of Lucifer, the Arch Lords, and Illumina, things began to look dire for Humanity. Eden herself begun to lose hope, fearing that all will be lost and taken by her once trusted ally.
                But in the darkest times, even the smallest, faintest light of hope can make all the difference.
                An invasive force of Demons commanded by Tiamat were on the brink of seizing a fortress containing Human refugees, which was guarded by a platoon of Angelic knights and Reapers. But one Angel rallied his Angelic allies, the Reapers, and even many of the Humans that were able to fight, and courageously fought back against their enemies. For what seemed like an inexplicable reason, Tiamat retreated after her unit was decimated. This marked a turning point in the war, and it seemed this one Angel became a driving force for Eden’s army. This Angel’s name was Alexander Laguoire. Alexander had an unbreakable will, was very courageous, and was committed to Eden’s cause, desiring to bring peace to the world in these dark times. But he was also very kind and considerate, and thought of his allies, whether they be Angel, Human, or Reaper, as his friend and brother in arms. He was a great morale boost to his comrades, as well as being an incredible fighter on the battlefield. Word of his exploits and victories over the Demons were spread around, to the point where some people had regarded Alexander as a hero. Eventually, Eden herself had heard about him, and came to a decision that could very much help bring an end to the war.
                Eden had summoned Alexander to a chamber deep within her palace. While very few are privy to what this chamber contained, it was here that Eden performed a ritual to give Alexander incredible power. When he returned to the battlefield, Alexander wore a white crystal not bigger than the palm of his hand. But within this crystal was a great power, one that would drive away the dark back into the abyss of the Underworld. By using this power, Alexander was able to transform into the legendary white knight, known as Angelus. As Angelus, armed with the magic elements of light, earth, fire, water, and wind, Alexander and his comrades fought back against the Demon army, and had successfully managed to completely turn around the war. None stood against Angelus; the four Arch Lords were defeated in battle, forced to retreat in a severely weakened state, while Illumina was left disabled after a battle against the Wraiths, with the Angels hiding the giant golem away somewhere on Earth, being unable to completely destroy it. Finally, after one last decisive battle, Lucifer and his army were driven back into the Underworld by Alexander and his comrades.
After the battle, Eden created a powerful barrier around the planet sealing off the Underworld from the Human world. However, this also meant that the Overworld would also be sealed away, which would put an end to the Angels communing with Humanity. Eden and her army would return to the heavens, while the Reapers would continue to look after the planet, hidden from the public view, not only defending it from any potential demon incursion, but now to also guide the souls of the dead to the afterlife. However, among some other Angels, Alexander decided to stay behind with Humanity. He told Eden that there was someone important waiting for him after the war ended, a Human woman that he fell in love with, and wanted to go live with her for the rest of his days while working alongside the Reapers to defend Humanity. Eden accepted his decision, only advising that if Alexander would have a son, that he would pass on the crystal and the powers of Angelus to him, and in turn for the Crystal to be passed down to the descendants of the Laguoire family bloodline. Eden then thanked him for everything he had done during the war and gave him her blessings, wishing him to have a long and happy life filled with love and kindness. And with that, she left for the Overworld, never to be seen in the Human world ever again.
With Eden’s departure and her barrier in effect, the knowledge of Angels, and in turn Demons, the War of the Three Planes, the Reapers, and Angelus, faded from the memory of mankind on a large scale.  Humanity moved on without the guidance of Angels, but with the Angel’s victory in the war, they have kept their free will to build up their civilizations around the world. In the shadows of the world, the Wraiths still serve Lucifer, recruiting more people to his cause, working with the few Demons left in the Human world, and attempting to summon more Demons into the Human world. As for Alexander, he indeed did live a long and happy life, having married his Human love and had a family, having a single son. At the end of his life, Alexander’s being ascended and transformed into a Soul Arm; a weapon forged from the souls of beings of great power, both Angelic and Demonic. But an incident with the Wraiths had prevented Alexander’s son from retrieving this Soul Arm, which forced the Laguoire family into hiding while the Reapers and the devout Human followers of Eden sealed away Alexander’s Soul Arm in a secluded temple, away from prying eyes. After this point, there had been no records of Demons and Wraiths, as well as Reapers and Angelus. However, the Laguoire family still lives on, and despite the lack of any known records, it is rumored that they continue to fight alongside their comrades in their battle against Lucifer and his minions.
And now, another chapter in the bloody battle between the forces of light and dark begins. One that could decide the fate of Humanity…
